I call this creation the S & M (Squirrel & Marabou) fly. It is tied using a glass bead so that it sinks relatively slowly. The imitation doubles up as a damsel or dragon fly nymph very prevalent as a summertime food source fished near or over weed beds. Using the Pine Squirrel combined with the marabou results in a lot of realistic movement. This is one of my go-to flies in the trout dams I manage in the Somerset East and neighbouring districts and other trophy dams in the Eastern Cape. It also works well for bass.

And this is how I tie it.
